National Science Foundation’s Science & Engineering State Indicators

The Science and Engineering Indicators State Indicators is published by the National Science Foundation. The data tool allows readers to explore state trends in science and technology education, employed workforce, R&D, patents and publications, and knowledge- and technology-intensive industries.

The tool includes approximately 60 principal indicators for the United States, individual states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The data used to calculate the indicators are gathered from public and private sources.
